The page proofs for my second book are in my hands. Of course, I printed it out, three hole punched it and begged Aya if I could use her Hello Kitty school supplies for a week (the pen has erasable ink!) to finish reading through the pages.
This is my second time reading through my writing in proofs. All of the work in it has been created and deleted, copy and pasted, revised and redrafted, edited and copyedited many times over. But reading it through, turning the pages between my fingers, and realizing that one day someone else will have it in print, I’m taken aback.
Its not the real book, yet. I’ve got a ways to go. But I’m on my way.
